Conversion is a common human experience. People have conversion experiences as they switch political parties, or discover the newest diet that they want all their friends to try. In our day there is a tremendous interest in “spirituality,” and people are happy to speak of their encounters with the Divine (however that may be defined). This means that a religious experience cannot be the final determination of whether or not a person has been converted to Christ.
